♦ Darrelle Revis remains a Jet for now, and he says he wants to stay in New York, but he’s not hiding the fact that he has developed some hard feelings for his team’s management. This comes following a report on the January day the team introduced new general manager John Idzik that Revis might be on the way out.
“It was kind of, to me, kind of rude, because it was John Idzik’s first day on the job,” Revis told NFL Network in an interview that aired Monday. “I was speechless; I tweeted it out I was speechless. I was speechless because I didn’t get a phone call. I know it’s a business — just call me; don’t have it lingering out there. I need answers and I’m not getting any. Just the fact that that was put out there instead of contacting your best player on the team. If that’s how you want to do business, then that’s fine.”
Revis said he eventually did get a call from Idzik, who said the leaks did not originate with him.
“He was a straightforward guy. He didn’t cut no corners,” Revis said. “I respect him.”
Revis, who missed most of last season after suffering a torn ACL, counts for $9 million toward the salary cap in 2013 and is slate to become a free agent after the season.
“I know Rex [Ryan], he wants me to be here,” Revis said. “I’m sure he’ll have a say [in the decision, but] overall no, it starts from the top. It starts with [owner] Woody Johnson.”
Added Revis: “I told them numerous times that I want to be there. So, it’s up to them what they want to do.”
♦ Wade MacLeod, the Springfield Falcons player who suffered a seizure on the ice during Sunday’s game shortly after being checked into the glass, was released from the hospital Monday.
The former Northeastern University star did not speak to the media, but his stepfather offered thanks for the support the family has received.
“There has been an impressive outpouring of support through the social media, and Wade is very appreciative of it,” Garth Essery told the Springfield Republican. “He thanks everybody for thinking of him.”
The game was suspended after MacLeod went down. A penalty was called on Adirondack Phantoms defenseman Brandon Manning for the hit.
“It did not look like that bad of a hit,” Essery said. “He sort of got rubbed along the board, a part of hockey. It didn’t look like there was any intent to injure.”
